In Villdans, Naaljos Ljom and Mamelukk meet, two creative forces who, in their own ways, explore the relationship between folk music, body, and rhythm. Together with the audience, they open a space in the borderland between concert, performance, club, and free dance, where music and movement can develop freely.
Naaljos Ljom is a duo from Rogaland who draw their drive from slåttar (traditional Norwegian folk tunes), springar rhythms, and archival recordings from all over the country. With fiddle, synths, drums, and heavy-hitting power, traditional music is shaped into a modern and powerful expression.
The Mamelukes meet the music as a living and bodily response to the energy in the game. With Silje Onstad Hålien as artistic director and choreographer, an interplay is created where sound and movement merge, and the audience is drawn in with their eyes, ears, and bodies.
The evening begins with doors opening at 8:00 PM. At 8:30 PM, there will be a crash course in dancing, including gommokaku. The concert starts at 9:30 PM.
