Cardinal Directions moves between traces of old trade routes, mythological echoes in vast landscapes and humour in cultural production. The flow of goods and people along global trade routes leaves its mark on the living history of our cultures. From koi carp patterned aprons on traditional Norwegian folk costumes to rose-painted lanterns, is Cardinal directions an immersive installation charting the paths that still bear traces of exchange in our cultural heritage.
The exhibition invites the public into an artistic landscape where heritage, exchange and contemporaneity meet through installation, sound and visual expression.
