Ål is a hiker's paradise with mountains, plains, caves, forests and beautiful fishing and swimming lakes. That's why trackless traffic in Ål is important when we're out and about. Trackless traffic means that you shouldn't leave any traces in nature, either rubbish, damage to vegetation or unnecessary wear and tear on paths and outdoor areas.

Trout shortage? Not in Ål. On Saturday, 40 kilos of trout, 300 eggs and 1,200 slices of bread will be turned into a sandwich that stretches a full 100 metres through the Ål shopping centre. The public is invited to watch the long loaf take shape, after which they will have the opportunity to taste the record for themselves.

For many people in Ål and Hallingdal, dog sledding has been missing. Now it's finally back. This autumn, Geilo Husky is offering dog sledding on bare ground from Bergsjøstølen Fjellstue in the Bergsjø area.

On a sheltered mountainside above Ål lies Fagerdalen Støl, a living farm where the cows still graze freely and traditions are kept alive. Here, cheese is fermented, boiled and churned the old-fashioned way.

Ål, Thursday 9 May: The 2025 pole hunt is officially underway, and the enthusiasm is not long in coming. As early as 6am this morning, the first two maps were opened - one around Ål town centre and one in Torpo. By the time the clock struck nine, one eager participant had already managed to find all 73 poles!
