Bathing places

On hot summer days it can be pleasant to swim in the river or in a quiet lake in the mountains. There are several organised swimming spots in Ål, but you can also find your own gem and favourite spot.

Elvelangs (by the river)

Along the Elvelangs hiking trail near Ål town centre, there are two places where you can swim: right by the bridge towards Ål station. There is a ladder into the water here and you need to be a good swimmer to swim here. Further east along the river there is a lovely sandy beach with a jetty, diving board, sauna and day trip cabin. A great swimming spot for the whole family!

When swimming in the Hallingdalselva outside the organised bathing areas, you must be aware that the river is regulated for hydropower and that there may be increased water flow in the river without warning.

Mountain lake

At Bergsjøstølen you can book a sauna and take a refreshing swim in Bergsjøen at the same time. It is also possible to combine this with dinner at Bergsjøstølen?
