Mountain tunes is a work in five movements, where Jo Asgeir Lie has drawn inspiration from Jøkulsong. In the music, the accordion and concertina meet with a string quartet in an interplay that creates both dialogue and contrasts between two instrumental worlds.
The work consists of the movements I still wonder, So close is everything, Wonder, Sangenuten and Brea.
The concert also includes the suite Dances for clouds. The work was originally written for the New York saxophone quartet The Erie Saxophone Quartet in 2007 and 2008, and was reworked for string quartet and accordion in 2025. Here too, the title points towards nature and what we see around us.
