OTIUM aims to communicate the joy of the string quartet to both new and experienced concertgoers. The name OTIUM refers to a sanctuary where the ensemble chooses music based on their own desire and passion.

The string quartet consists of two violins, a viola and a cello. The ensemble form has a long history, and since Joseph Haydn developed the quartet form in the 18th century, many of the world's foremost composers have written music for this instrumentation.

The musicians prefer to play close to the audience in smaller venues, much like this music was originally intended to be performed.
