Since the 1980s, Groupa has been a central player in progressive Swedish folk music. With a distinctive combination of older melodies, free improvisation, new compositions, and imaginative instrumentation, they have influenced a whole generation of musicians.

In its more recent projects, Groupa has given the music free rein. In the Kind of Folk series, they interpret folk music from various countries. Volume 5 is based on music from Poland, and for the concert in Ål, they are bringing Marta Matuszna from Laliki with them.
