Hardingfela player Erlend Apneseth has a truly unique playing style, and has become one of our most exported jazz musicians, while still remaining firmly rooted in folk music. On his latest album, Song over Støv, he has assembled what can be called a supergroup, where the raw and beautiful interplay is an important part of the expression.
Using the Hardanger fiddle as a starting point, Apneseth and the ensemble explore the concept of world music and all the possibilities inherent in the instrument. The music is shaped by the encounter between tradition, improvisation, and an ensemble that allows for both power and detail.
