Iungdalsnuten

From Iungdalshhytta, you can walk up to Iungdalsnuten, a short but steep hike with great rewards. From the top you get views in all directions, towards Stolsvatnet, Reineskarvet, Skogshorn, and the vast mountains to the east.

Iungsdalsnuten towers behind Iungsdalshytta and gives you a real high-mountain feeling in no time. The hike starts quietly in Fødalen, but quickly takes you out of the valley and up into rocky and mountainous terrain. The summit itself is demanding, but accessible to most people with normal hiking equipment. The view from the top is well worth the effort.

Important to know

This hike is described from Iungsdalshytta. If you are not already there, you must first enter from Toviki, an easy and pleasant approach of approx. 3.2 km. See the tour description.

Hike description

From Iungsdalshytta, follow the path westwards towards Bjordalsbu, into Fødalen. After about 1 kilometre, turn off the marked trail and follow an unmarked but visible path up the mountainside. This is where the climb begins in earnest.

The hike up to the summit is steep and rocky, sometimes demanding, but short and manageable for experienced hikers and families used to the mountains. At the top, you'll be treated to sweeping views of mountains, lakes and valleys.

Return the same way.

Tips

It's a good idea to bring binoculars and a camera, as there are great views from the top.

After the tour, you can relax at the Iungsdalshytta, buy yourself something good, or treat yourself to an overnight stay with a cosy atmosphere and local food.
