From Halle (Hallestølen), follow the ridge up to Buhovda - an open and easy-to-walk ridge that gives a good mountain feeling without steep sections. At the top, 1149 metres above sea level, you'll find an airy viewpoint and several options for a round trip. The hike is suitable for children, grandparents and everyone in between, and offers great views for little effort.

Hike description
The hike starts at the information board in the car park at Halle. Follow the signposted path past the farm and along the ridge to the top of Buhovda. From here you get a panoramic view of Hallingskarvet, Ålingsfjella and the landscape around Øvre Ål.
From the top, the trail descends towards Holtetjørne, a good place for a rest before following the trail back to Halle. The entire round trip is approx. 3.5 km in easy terrain.
If you want to go further, there are many signposted trails and old farm roads in the area that can easily be combined for both shorter and longer round trips.
Tips
In Øvre Ålsåsen, there are several cultural monuments, including bogastelles, old hunting installations from as far back as 1500 BC. These were used as hiding places for hunters hunting reindeer and other big game.
Most of the signposted trails in the area follow old logging roads to the farms, and many of them intersect, so there are plenty of opportunities to plan your own tours and hikes.
