Ål church

Ål church was built in 1880 and is a fine example of neo-Gothic wooden church architecture. The church stands just a stone's throw from the site where the old stave church stood until it was demolished the same year. Some of the materials from the stave church were reused, and the old furnishings live on in the new church.

Inside, you'll find beautiful stained glass windows and decorations, and in the chancel, decorated wall planks from the stave church have been installed, as well as a copy of the original wooden ceiling. Here you can also see the altarpiece from 1705, the pulpit and church art dating back to the 18th century.

Ål church is still in use for church services and concerts, giving you a lively encounter with faith, tradition and local history.
