Svarttjern is located on Liagardsåsen, about 11 km from Ål town centre. This forest lake has several good fishing spots along its banks, and there are organised paths, tables and benches in some places.

Svarttjern consists of two lakes connected by a small canal. At the nearest lake, you can park by the pump house and follow the path along the left-hand side. Here you'll find two fine headlands to fish from. On the innermost headland, there are tables, benches and a small fire pit. On the north side you can follow a new route for the ski trail. More fishing spots are visible in the map at inature.

If you want to fish in the innermost lake, it may be worth driving about 1 kilometre further along the road. When you pass a cabin on the right, it is possible to walk down to the water from there. The terrain is a little rough, but there is a path down to the shore.

Fishing licence

Day passes cost from NOK 70, weekly passes from NOK 300 and season passes are available (20 June-1 September). Fishing licences can be purchased at inatur.no.
