When the town centre is filled with the smell of freshly baked bread, children's laughter and the sound of music, you know it's Ål Day. On Saturday 26 July, the Ål Trade Association invites you to a real folk festival - a day when the entire town centre is transformed into a colourful marketplace with flavours, activities and entertainment for young and old alike.

As May slips into June, folk music comes to life in the heart of Hallingdal. Folkemusikkveka in Ål offers nine days filled with sounds, rhythms and strong expressions. This year's programme is as varied as it is atmospheric. Together with the culture office, we've selected five highlights that we think you should experience - whether you love good tunes, strong stories or atmospheric moments. Summer has arrived in Ål, and with it comes a host of exciting experiences - from opera and art in the mountains to campfires, bike camps and children's fun. In June, there's a lot going on for young and old alike, and here are some highlights you shouldn't miss.

Ål, Thursday 9 May: The 2025 pole hunt is officially underway, and the enthusiasm is not long in coming. As early as 6am this morning, the first two maps were opened - one around Ål town centre and one in Torpo. By the time the clock struck nine, one eager participant had already managed to find all 73 poles!
