Departure from Ål square at 08:00
We estimate just over 2.5 hours driving to Tjoflot, where the tour starts. After parking, there will be a small snack before we start walking around 11:00.
About the hike
The trip is demanding and involves over 1,000 metres of climbing - but the reward is worth it.
The trail starts at Tjoflot, first on a tractor road and then steeply up through the forest to the farms at Vindhovden (600 metres above sea level). From there, the landscape opens up and the trail continues up the ridge to around 900 metres above sea level. The last part of the trail is somewhat steeper and rocky, but without any dangerous sections.
At the top, you'll enjoy 360-degree views of the Hardangerfjord, Granvinfjord, Sørfjord and Eidfjord - as well as Folgefonna, Hardangervidda and Vossefjella.
