Franz Schubert wrote his last and perhaps most beloved piece of chamber music just months before he died, aged 31. The String Quintet in C major is characterised by great emotional depth, dazzling beauty and poignant melodies. It is a work that has touched listeners for generations, and is constantly cited as one of the highlights in the history of chamber music.
For this concert Oslo String Quartet company of cellist Fredrik Schøyen Sjölin, known from the string quartet Danish String Quartet. Together they interpret this masterpiece - in which Schubert uses two cellos to create an extra rich and warm sound.
