When the war came to Norway, the truth went into exile. An exciting part of this story is how Norwegian and British forces got the Norwegian radio broadcasts started on the BBC. As early as April 1940, the BBC was already broadcasting in Norwegian. These radio broadcasts quickly became the most important information channel for occupied Norway. The resistance movement, the illegal press and most people heard news, speeches, appeals and important messages from the government and the royal family in exile.
Toralv Øksnevad, known as the "Voice from London", became a household name among those who lived through the five difficult war years.
Sindre Hovdenakk published the book in 2020 Over to London. NRK in exile 1940-1945 and is now coming to Ål library where he will tell the story of the Norwegian radio broadcasts from London.
