Fathers and sons.
Author and lawyer Dag Steinfeld talks about his book Fedre og sønner - en familiehistorie fra tsarens Russland til den kalde krigen. An exciting family story about four generations in the hot and cold war.
Dag Steinfeld heard stories about his Jewish family on his father's side when he was a child. They had fled poverty and persecution in Russia in the 19th century and eventually established several businesses in Norway. Later, many of them died in Auschwitz. When Dag decides to investigate the past, he uncovers an adventurous class journey and great wealth, but also powerful conflicts. Through two world wars, times of economic crisis and the Cold War, fathers and sons are pitted against each other in the family. He himself has been in such a conflict with his father. But this is also a story about friendship, togetherness and love.
