Elderly Day 2025

On Wednesday 1 October 2025, Ål Elderly Council will celebrate this year's Elderly Day in the Great Hall at Ål Cultural Centre. The day offers exciting lectures, socialising, refreshments and film screenings - all with free admission for all seniors.

The programme starts at 11.00 with a meeting with Ragnhild Jepsen, Bishop of Bjørgvin Diocese. She is from Ål, former dean of Nidaros Cathedral, and in 2023 became the first female bishop in Bjørgvin. The theme of her presentation is Faith and doubt in a troubled world.

At 12.30 pm there will be a talk by Heidi Storeskar from Hallinghelse. She will talk about the ABCs of good mental health, a relevant topic in the Year of Outdoor Life.

Between 13:00 and 14:00, there will be free refreshments and coffee, before the day ends with a film screening at 14:00: The White Gold. The film is a local success, and with 2,823 tickets sold, it is one of the most watched films at Ål cinema - only beaten by Titanic, Max Manus and Då Hans herja.

Free tickets can be downloaded here or at the culture centre desk (unnumbered seats)
