This year's Christmas concert offers a varied and evocative programme that embraces both tradition and innovation. The choir has selected melodic and moving works by Welsh composer Karl Jenkins, who is known for his distinctive tonal language and strong moods. There will also be folk tunes from the Middle Ages, Norwegian carols from our own time and classic Christmas melodies that have followed generations.
The Ål choir will be joined by talented musicians who will further enhance the concert. The audience will hear Elisabeth Walker on piano, Rebecca Lofft on violin and harding fiddle, and Audun Flaen on organ. As always, the conductor is Arild Rønsen, who leads the choir with a sure hand and great musical commitment.
The concert offers a blend of intimacy, celebration and hope - a necessary reminder in the dark season that brighter days are on the way, both in nature and in the world around us.
