1. Music with power and character
Experience the raw and honest indie pop of Synne Sørgjerd live at Tanken Arena. With strong lyrics, a vulnerable and honest expression and an intense stage presence, Synne has made her mark as an artist worth noticing. She is often compared to both Kaja Gunnufsen and Raga Rockers, and her songs hit a range of emotions that many people recognise. Now you have the opportunity to experience her live at Tanken Arena in Ål - as part of SundreBall 365. There will be both a youth concert in the early evening, and a more atmospheric evening concert for those over 18. Whichever one you choose, you can expect a concert experience that leaves a lasting impression.

2. Tradition and community on National Day
17 May As always, Ål is filled with music, fellowship and celebration in all parts of the municipality - from the town centre to Torpo and Nordbygdene. There will be children's parades, speeches, games and sing-alongs in true village style. It's a day when young and old come together to celebrate both the nation and the local community. This is a tradition held in high esteem by many, and this year we're once again organising a day of celebration with warmth and joy - whether you live here or are visiting us.
3. Classic theatre magic for the whole family
Later this month, you can take the whole family to a theatre that really gets the imagination flowing. The Norwegian Touring Theatre is bringing the classic fairytale of Narnia to the stage in Ål. Based on C.S. Lewis' "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe", the production takes the audience on a journey through the enchanted winter kingdom filled with magical creatures and the wise lion Aslan. This is theatre with large sets, vibrant costumes and a strong ensemble - a performance that both children and adults will get carried away by. Critics have called it "a visual adventure" and "theatrical fireworks". Don't miss this opportunity to experience magnificent family theatre in Ål.

4. Nine days of live folk music

May ends with a week-long celebration of tradition, crafts and music. Folkemusikkveka is one of the most distinctive and atmospheric festivals we have here in the valley. From 24 May to 1 June, Ål will be filled with tunes from both the past and the present. The programme ranges from grand concert stages to intimate jam sessions, and from folk festivals to fantastic musical moments. Every day brings new opportunities for audiences to experience music that is not just played - but shared and brought to life.
Folkemusikkveka is not just a festival, it's a cultural experience with real roots in the local community and roots that continue to grow.
Whether you're passionate about folk music or just curious to experience something real, close and different, you'll love Folkemusikkveka. Bring your family and friends and be part of the musical magic - right in the heart of Hallingdal.
