Master and apprentice

Sunday 18 October at 15.00, the Storhelg i Hallingdal 2026 folk music festival concludes with the celebratory concert Meister og elev (Master and Pupil) in Storesalen. Here, around 80 young participants will meet the teachers they have been taking classes with throughout the festival.

Young people from far and wide have taken part in courses with established performers within several branches of traditional folk music. During Master and student pupils and teachers meet on stage in the festival's closing performance.

This year's champions represent, among other things, the fiddle, Hardanger fiddle, langeleik, two-row accordion, traditional vocal folk music (kveding), halling dance, couple dance, jew's harp, lur, goat horn and willow flute.

The audience will get to experience young performers alongside established folk musicians.
