Whiskysmaking med Aal the Best

Whisky night at Tanken

Would you like to learn more about whisky's history, craftsmanship, and culture? Aal the Best AS and Tanken Arena invite you to an engaging evening with a talk and tastings from the Scottish distillery The Glenturret, established in 1763 and considered Scotland's oldest distillery still in operation.

Whisky distillation can be traced back to Irish monasteries in the 1100s, and the first written sources mentioning malt whisky are found in the 1500s. Although whisky is produced in large parts of the world today, its origins are particularly associated with Ireland and Scotland. Today, there are around 150 active distilleries in Scotland alone.

This evening offers an in-depth introduction to the art and traditions behind whisky production. The lecture is led by Chris Maile, one of Norway's leading whisky experts. He has been an independent ambassador for Scottish and international whisky in the Nordic region for over 25 years, and has hosted nearly a thousand whisky tastings for a wide audience.

Chris Maile has worked with purpose to promote Scottish whisky and culture in Norway. In recognition of this, in 2005 he was inducted as a Keeper of the Quaich, the whisky industry's highest honour, at a ceremony at Blair Castle in Scotland. In 2016, he also received the title of Master of the Quaich.

His vast knowledge, infectious enthusiasm and touches of bagpipe playing make this an evening that offers more than just culinary experiences.
