The celebrations start at Torget square, where the Christmas tree is lit, and culture school pupils and local cultural organisations contribute with musical and visual performances. After the lighting, everyone joins in the candlelight procession towards the cultural centre, accompanied by sleigh rides that create a magical atmosphere in the streets. At the culture centre, Santa, mulled wine and a pleasant time for the whole family await.
Visitors are encouraged to bring a lantern to help illuminate the darkness as the walk moves through Sundre. It is also recommended to dress well, as the entire event takes place outdoors.
This year's Christmas tree lighting will be extra special because the Year of Outdoor Life ends on this day. The candlelight walk will therefore have a solemn setting that marks the end of the anniversary year.
