Vats Gardsmat - genuine craftsmanship from Vats
Since 2006, three sheep farmers in Vats have been refining local produce into cured meat and stick meat with the flavour of mountains and fresh air. The sheep graze freely in the Bergsjø area throughout the summer before the meat is given plenty of time to tenderise, cured and dried. The result is genuine craftsmanship and the flavour of Hallingdal. The pinnekjøtt is delivered pre-cut, smoked or unsmoked, and is ready to put straight into the pot.
This year's pinnekjøtt from Vats Gardsmat will probably be ready in around three weeks. You can buy it directly from the farm shop at Vats, Samhald, Tid Kafé or the brand new Spar store in Ål. It is also possible to order via e-mail to post@vatsgardsmat.no.

Garden Oppheim - award-winning stick meat from Hallingdal
At Garden Oppheim, old traditions are combined with modern craftsmanship in a 19th century timber barn. Here, Renate and Sjur Søndrål make stick meat from lambs that have grazed at the foot of Hallingskarvet.

The meat is dry-salted and dried in fresh mountain air, giving it a pure and delicate flavour. Garden Oppheim has won national championship gold medals for both smoked and unsmoked stick meat, and carries the Speciality label - local food in a class of its own.
The stick meat from Garden Oppheim will soon be ready and can be ordered by sending an e-mail to post@gardenoppheim.no. Their products are also sold at Spar Geilo, Joker Torpo and REMA 1000 stores in Hallingdal and Region East.
