After almost twenty years of composing their own music, the trio released their first Christmas album, Christmas Sessions, last year. The album has received rave reviews and shows how traditional Christmas music can be given new life when interpreted with a folk musical expression.
Gjermund Larsen on fiddle, Andreas Utnem on wooden organ and piano, and Sondre Meisfjord on double bass are on stage. Together, they create a warm and poetic soundscape that is perfect for the Advent season.
Gjermund Larsen says that the trio has chosen the Christmas songs that mean the most to them and given them their personal touch:
"Several of the Christmas songs have a strong message about peace, which unfortunately is particularly important in these times." he says.
The Gjermund Larsen Trio has won a number of awards, including the Spellemann Prize in 2008, the German Phonographic Critics Award in 2015 and the TONO Composer Prize in 2016. Their music is known for conveying both tradition and hope - and in this concert, the audience will meet exactly that.
