- "We've wanted to get the centre up and running for a long time. Now we're ready, and we can't wait for the community to start using it," says Magnus Tveito, day-to-day manager of Tanken Arena.

A varied programme
The opening month runs from 26 September to 8 November. During these weeks there will be everything from concerts and films to hunting evenings and knitting and drinking.
- "We've tried to put together a programme that has a broad appeal. There should be something for young people, something for the elderly and something for all of us in between," says Tveito.
For young people, there's a youth concert with Markella on Saturday 27 September. For skiing enthusiasts, there's the Fri Flyt Film Tour in early October, while hunting enthusiasts will have their own event with films and lectures on 24 October.
Music lovers can look forward to Americana with Malin Pettersen on 11 October and Valentourettes on 8 November. Foodies will have a unique experience when Edu and Hallgrim Haug host a sushi pop-up on 31 October.

Important for Ål
Ål Utvikling believes that Tanken Arena is an offer that will lift the entire village.
- "This is a meeting place that both locals and holidaymakers will enjoy. It will bring more life to the town centre and make Ål a more attractive destination," says Ola Opheim, CEO of Ål Utvikling.
A house that lives
The programme is packed in the first few weeks, but the organisers are looking beyond November.
- This is just the start. The idea is to be a place for both small and large experiences. We hope it will be a house that lives all week long," says Tveito.
