Rikansrudkamben is one of the most popular fitness trails in the Torpo area. There is a clear path, the possibility of a round trip, and the hike is suitable both for those who want an effective workout and for families who want a hike with a view and a clear goal.
Car park
Park at Sirebrua on the road up to Lien, or at Torpo Church.
Hike description
The best starting point for the hike is Bakketun Stadium in Torpo. From here, follow the gravel road towards Storedal, and where the trail starts, choose one of two alternative routes up to Veslekamben. From here, the trail continues up to Rikansrudkamben (682 metres above sea level), where great views of the village and valley await.
If you want a round trip, you can continue over the hill towards Sletta and then follow Rikansrudvegen back down to Torpo centre. The round trip is unmarked, but easy to follow for those who are familiar or use a map.
Tips
Rikansrudkamben is a great hike in its own right, but the area around Torpo also offers several experiences that can be combined with the hike:
- Torpo stave church - The oldest stave church in Hallingdal (from around 1190), and the only one that has been preserved in its original form. Here you'll get a unique insight into medieval building techniques and church art. The church is located just a few minutes' walk from Bakketun Stadium.
- Oppheim Guest House - A charming and historic accommodation with roots dating back to the 1930s. A great place to stay if you want to explore the area over several days.
