This hike takes you from the Bergsj\u00f8 area to the serviced tourist cabin Iungsdalshytta, which is beautifully situated by the river Fossebrekka. Along the way, you'll pass old cairns, stone walls and trickling mountain streams - all with Reineskarvet as a backdrop on the horizon. The walk is on both paths and gravel roads, and follows the traditional routes used by the people of Idalshytta in earlier times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The tour starts at Bergsj\u00f8st\u00f8len or R\u00f8dungst\u00f8len. Both have parking available (please note that there may be a parking fee).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hike description<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

From Bergsj\u00f8st\u00f8len, follow the path northwards towards Eitrest\u00f8len. From here, the route runs along the foot of Reineskarvet, in slightly undulating terrain. Eventually you pass \u00d8vre Blomest\u00f8len, where you walk a short distance on a farm track before continuing on the path towards Svori, which is crossed as a stone goose.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

NB: In the event of high water levels in Svori, it may be necessary to take an alternative route down to the road and follow it to Djup. From there, follow a good path down to Toviki, and on to Iungsdalshytta on a clear path. Before you reach the cabin, you cross the river Fossebrekka on a year-round bridge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Return <\/h3>\n\n\n\n

From the cabin, walk back over the bridge and follow the path towards Toviki. From here, take the gravel road towards Djup and continue on the trail back towards Svori. The trail runs through open and easy-to-walk mountain terrain, past small streams and over low ridges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If the river at Svori is still difficult to cross, you can follow the road on to Dyrebotn and take the path from there, which leads you back to the route under Reineskarvet and down to Bergsj\u00f8st\u00f8len.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tips<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This is a tour for those who want a full-day\/multi-day experience in the mountains, with plenty of time to enjoy both nature and tradition. We recommend starting the tour from Bergsj\u00f8st\u00f8len Mountain Lodge<\/a><\/strong> or R\u00f8dungst\u00f8len Mountain Hotel<\/strong>,<\/a> and feel free to spend the night there the night before. Here you can enjoy a good meal and recharge in comfortable surroundings (perhaps in the panoramic sauna at Bergsj\u00f8st\u00f8len)<\/a> before you set off on your trip the next day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once arrived at Iungsdalshytta<\/a><\/strong> we recommend staying one night. The cabin offers a real mountain idyll, warm beds and flavoursome local food made with care, a perfect respite in the middle of the mountains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Bergsj\u00f8st\u00f8len<\/a> <\/strong>you can also extend your stay in the mountains with activities such as canoe and bike hire, a sauna with a view, and a self-service kiosk with goodies for your backpack. This makes your trip more than just a stage, but a whole mountain experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
